2.bill n.帐单;纸币;法案

3.figure n.人影，轮廓 v.指出

figure out弄清楚，明白;算出;想出(try to understand; calculate)

例句：1.I can"t figure out what"s wrong with my watch. It was just a month ago

that I had it repaired.

2.This mcrchine has many buttons. I can"t figure out which one make it

run.

4.give vt.给;送给;赠送;给予;归还

put/give one"s mind to 集中注意力于…

例句：If he would only put his mind to his schoolwork，he would make a

brilliant student.

如果他能够把精力集中到学习上的话，他一定会成为一个好学生。

give sb...days" extention 允许某人延期几天(论文.任务等)(allow more days for a person to

finish; paper, task, etc.)

例句：If Prof. Brown was willing to give us three days"extention to finish the

paper, maybe he should give us a few more days.

如果布朗教授愿意给我们延期三天完成论文，也许他应该再多给几天。

5.ralse vt.升起;举起

ralse the roof 吵翻天，特别生气(同义习语：hit the roof.hit the ceiling)

A:I borrowed Peter"s favorite pen and I"ve lost it.

A:我借了彼得最喜欢的笔，可是我把它弄丢了。

B:When he finds out, he will really raise the roof.

B:他要是知道了，他一定会吵翻天的。

6.repair vt.修理;修补。

repair shop 修理铺

例句：My bike is still in the repair shop.

7.start n.惊起，吃惊 Vt.开始

start with 以...开始(have ... as the beginning)

A:Do you know Jim works as a dish-washer at a restaurant around the

corner)

A:你知道吉姆在拐角处的一家饭馆刷盘子吗?

B:It isn"t a bad job to start with.

B:作为开端，这项工作也不错了。

start off 开始( start out, set out, begin)

例句：Now, I"m going to start off asking you a difficult question. Why would

you like to get the post?
